AMIC media conference in the Philippines

Pacific Media Centre, 14-18 July 2008

The Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) conference in Manila, Philippines. The theme was "Changing media, changing societies - media and the Milennium Development Goals" . Three AUT staff attended this conference. PMC director David Robie presented a paper on "Diversity reportage in metropolitan Oceania: The mantra and the reality" and Jeanie Benson and Sarah Baker on "The suitcase, the sumarai sword and the pumpkin: Asian crime and news media treatment".

The Pacific Media Centre co-publication South Pacific Islands Communication, co-edited by Evangelia Papoutsaki and Usha Sundar Harris, was also launched at the conference.
